Elder, yet another sacred tree with strong associations to the faerie realm in celtic lore, as well as the celtic cauldron of rebirth. It is also said to be the tree of witches. Often is there a dichotomy made in magic between light and dark, of which the elder tree is also a subject as it is both associated with ill fortune or cursing, then also as a protective force that conjoins the barriers between life and death. Ruis, the ogham nomen, is linked to passion, jealousy, shame, guilt and intensity, all chaotic emotions that can be perceived as unpious and yet affect every human throughout their life. Thereby, Ruis is a truth tree; it will reflect the things in life - or death - that may be difficulty to process or accept, but are absolutely there. Is should be dealt with in a reverent fashion.
