Welcome to the versatile great mullein! Alongside using its stalk to make candles (see the mullein candles in the Cunning Folkery Stop) and its flowers for cough syrup, the leaves of the mullein plant are the most commonly used part of the plant - and have been throughout history! It was considered one of 23 important healing herbs in medieval Jewish medical practice. Native Americans would roll the leaves in with tobacco and smoke it to treat asthma. Its health benefits range widely with its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, treating ailments such as throat inflammation, coughs, hemorrhoids, skin lesions, rashes and infections.
Magically, it is a protective herb that will ward off evils. Even their silhouettes at dusk appear as loyal sentries guarding their lot. It can also be used to empower spell work and enhance its effectiveness. It's ashes are incredibly sacred and should be disposed of with care, thought and intention.
Mostly used in herbal smokes. Other uses include herbal teas, tinctures, salves, dream sachets, soaps, beauty products, shampoos, poultices and bridal sachets, etc.
There is a two ounce maximum on bulk herb orders.
Herbs are grown or wild harvested in Northern Colorado.
